History of Goutal Author of Perfumes since 1981

Annick Goutal
An exceptional woman
Once upon a time, there was Annick Goutal, a woman of intuition and emotions, one of those visionaries who go to the end of their dreams. A child prodigy, she was destined for a career as a pianist. Very quickly, she rebels against this destiny imposed on her to become a model.

Her curiosity for perfumes then brought her to Grasse, where she met a man who would change her life and transmit a new passion to her: In 1979, she became a perfume creator. Her sensoriality, her generosity and her gift for composition are the signature assets of her unique and remarkable perfumes.

As always, what passes through her hands is transformed into success, like her first creation, L'Eau d'Hadrien, composed in 1981 and which became an icon. The perfumer's organ is his new instrument. The notes of perfume replace the notes of music.
Camille Goutal
A story of transmission
In 1981, the first boutique opened on rue de Bellechasse, a Left Bank window, echoing a certain Parisian charm. Contrary to the trends dictated by the times, which were dominated by heady perfumes, the House's very personal and avant-garde creations quickly won over a public of connoisseurs and artists. Drawing from nature's rare olfactory combinations, Annick Goutal creates a style all her own that resembles her, made of delicacy and radiance, freshness and character. Her first creation, L'Eau d'Hadrien, composed in 1981, places Annick Goutal as a pioneer of Niche Perfumery.

In 1998, the creation of the fragrance Petite Chérie is a tribute to Camille Goutal, Annick Goutal's daughter. Camille Goutal grew up with the artistic influence of this extraordinary woman. Above all, she instilled in her daughter the importance of having fun and living her dreams. Thus, Camille Goutal became passionate about photography at a very young age.

It was in 1999 that Camille continued her mother's work. Today, Camille is the Ambassador of the House, and works with Isabelle Doyen, a perfumer who has always been an accomplice of the House.
Poetry, nature and culture at the heart of creation
Goutal, Author of Perfumes

The name of each Goutal fragrance sounds like the title of a book. It triggers images that open up the imagination. Each composition corresponds to a sensory tale that can be experienced on the skin.

The legendary Eau d'Hadrien, the House's emblematic perfume, was inspired by the famous hills of Tuscany and the tribulations of the Emperor Hadrian, told by Marguerite Yourcenar in her book Memoirs of Hadrian.

A responsible and caring House

Concerned to offer the most authentic raw materials and the most respectful products, Goutal is committed to following an environmental approach at each stage of the development of its products.

Thus, the perfumes are not colored. The bottles have been refillable since the creation of the House and can be returned to our points of sale for recycling. Refills are available for fragrance bestsellers, candles, diffusers and hand wash. The cases are designed to minimize paper use. An ethic and an awareness that Goutal places at the heart of creation.

Luxury is in details.
